At Edwin House we provide high quality care, nursing and recovery-orientated treatment and support for people living with chronic physical and mental health issues related to substance misuse.

A warm welcome to Edwin House

Edwin House is a unique, modern CQC registered care and reablement centre that provides high quality, dignified care to people with complex health needs related to long-term substance misuse.

Located in a quiet corner of Nottingham, we provide high quality care, nursing and recovery orientated treatment and support for people living with chronic physical, emotional or mental health issues.

Within the Edwin House site we offer two distinct services – a 48 bed unit providing residential care, nursing care and reablement support as well as a 14 bed, consultant led medically assisted Inpatient Detoxification Unit.

The service operates on a multidisciplinary approach from a highly qualified and experienced staff team consisting of non-medical prescribers, registered general and mental health nurses, support workers and volunteers.

We also have a dedicated recovery team which oversees the delivery of structured therapeutic, psychosocial and activities-based programmes.

We work closely with a range of external professionals such as GPs, district nurses, social workers, community drug and alcohol treatment workers and homeless health teams to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Our residents

The people who call Edwin House home may previously have had numerous attempts at treatment for their substance misuse, and are now beginning to experience the long-term physical, mental and emotional consequences of their chaotic life-styles.

We offer them dignity and security and believe it is never too late to improve their quality of life, whether that is through a short stay in our detox facility or a longer stay within our care and nursing service.

Our Residents

Our philosophy

The philosophy at the heart of Edwin House is one of harm reduction in its broadest sense. We acknowledge that substance misuse is a chronic relapsing condition and seek to empower residents to achieve their own recovery by providing flexible, tailored packages of care.

Compassion underpins all aspects of support we provide. That is why responding to individual needs and ensuring every person feels valued and part of a community is a high priority for us.

Our service respects individual personal preferences and will strive to provide for these within an environment that is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

Edwin House seeks to become a regional centre for excellence in the management, treatment and rehabilitation of complex substance misuse issues providing: responsive, contemporary and respectful care that empowers service users to reach their own recovery potential.
